State Licensure

Some states have forester credentialing laws including licensing and registration statutes.

Some states may accept parts of the SAF certification program including, but not limited to, passage of the examination and Continuing Forestry Education. Please contact the state board for detailed information. The SAF certification program supplements or complements state programs to register or license foresters and is not a substitute for such programs.

If you are a candidate for state licensure or registration in Maine or South Carolina and are approved by the respective state board, complete the online application HERE with your examination payment, so SAF National Office staff can pre-register you for your exam(s).
