New SAF Website Now Online

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 1, 2016

The Society of American Foresters (SAF) has launched its new website at www.eforester.org to provide increased engagement to its 12,000 members and the general public on forestry, natural resources and the profession.

The new site, developed in response to SAF member input and demand, offers:

  • More relevant content and a visually appealing look that is easily navigable.
  • Increased engagement in online communities so users can learn from each other. Communities will be coalescing around such subject areas as urban and community forestry, forest ecology, silviculture, forest products and utilization, wildland fire, bioenergy, human dimensions and education.
  • Enhanced integration with social media so users can share website content more easily and network with other users.
  • Refined search so users can find exactly what they need.
  • Access to the website on a variety of mobile devices.

“We are thrilled to provide this online resource to our members and partners,” said Clark Seely, Certified Forester (CF) and President of SAF. “This website takes SAF to the next level, especially for our current members, new members and students who aspire to be foresters and natural resources professionals. Two of our key priorities are member engagement and communications, both internal and external.  The new website is critical to our ability to successfully address these priorities, and to grow the profession and serve our members.”

“We are committed to using our new site and database to serve our members and partners in a state-of-the-art manner so they can thrive in their professional development,” said Matt Menashes, CEO of SAF.

SAF asks website visitors for their patience as we roll out the new site in the next few days. We will be adding features in the near future and you may also notice the interruption of a few services:

  • The Certified Forester directory will not be available online for a few weeks as we transition and enhance data.
  • The online quizzes for the Journal of Forestry and Forest Science are available in PDF format only. You can print and fill out forms and fax or mail for processing.

Please visit us at www.eforester.org and share your feedback via email so we can better understand and serve your needs.
