Apply for SAF Grants! Due February 15

January 21, 2021

If you’re looking to engage members, strengthen local units, work collaboratively with partners, and get out in the community, then apply for a Kurt Gottschalk Science Fund or Foresters’ Fund grant.

The Kurt Gottschalk Science Fund (KGSF) supports projects that develop and disseminate applied forest research findings and new technology for foresters and natural resource professionals or that facilitate science-informed management. The KGSF also supports cash awards for outstanding student presentations and posters at the SAF national convention.

Applications are taken once a year and are due February 15 for regular and special grants. Proposals can be submitted by any SAF member and must have the endorsement of one or more SAF Working Groups.

The Foresters’ Fund provides grants to SAF local units for projects that promote forestry education and enhances public understanding of forest management.

For 2021, $80,000 in Foresters’ Fund grants have been approved by the SAF Board of Directors with the funds to be split $40,000 for regular and special grants, and $40,000 for Leadership Development grants. The 2021 proposal cycle begins with a February 15 deadline for regular grants up to $1,500.
