National Award Nominations Open Jan. 15

January 14, 2021

Did you know there are 14 National Awards that SAF will be looking to award to SAF members and others this year? In addition to the Presidential Field Forester and Fellows awards, each year these awards are given to outstanding individuals and employers that are nominated by their peers.

Recognizing excellence in the work we do is a critical component of what SAF does for our forestry and natural resource profession. Nominations for 2021 open on January 15 -- now is the time to honor our inspiring, passionate, and amazing colleagues. All award nominations are due on March 15 at 11:59 PM Hawaii time.

New: Outstanding Local Unit Achievement Award
Local leaders take note: New to the awards suite this year is the Outstanding Local Unit Achievement Award. This award recognizes sustained leadership or a special project benefiting SAF, the forestry profession, and the practice of forestry. Any state society, division, or chapter is eligible, and the rating system is designed to provide equal opportunity to local units of any size.

New: Award Submission Platform
SAF is also launching a new online system for submission of award nominations to provide a better user experience and to streamline the process. All National Awards, Fellows, and Presidential Field Forester nominations will be submitted through an online portal accessed at eforester.org/awards

The platform will allow for SAF to manage the awards program in one centralized system that tracks, stores, automates, and manages all stages of submission, evaluation, notification, and correspondence with nominators and award winners.
