Participants will learn how to use open-source software (specifically R) to work quickly and efficiently with forestry data, with a focus on using large datasets such as Forest Inventory and Analysis data. This workshop is perfect for anyone with a basic introduction to data analysis and statistics, as well as for graduate students and professionals who want to learn more about how to use R to analyze their data. Participants will learn about publicly available datasets that can be utilized to predict landowner behavior, how that behavior can impact eligibility to enroll in the NCX program, and how the Natural Capital Exchange is designed. Anyone is welcome to participate; however, this workshop is ideal for professionals who interact with landowners, have a basic understanding of statistical models, and are familiar with NWOS, FIA, and NCLD datasets. This workshop will take place on Tuesday, September 20, 8:30am-12:00pm.

Agroforestry has been part of the Chesapeake Bay Forest Restoration Strategy since 2012 and is one of five approaches to restore and enhance forest canopy in the Chesapeake Bay Region. This tour will feature the world-renowned Stroud Water Research Center and other efforts to expand the tree canopy and explore agroforestry. This tour will be on Saturday, September 24, 8:00am-5:15pm.
