National Volunteer Week: Thank You, SAF Volunteers!

April 22, 2021

As we celebrate the 2021 National Volunteer Week, SAF would like to say a big 'THANK YOU' to its volunteers for all the work they do. Our volunteers shape events and outreach on the local, regional, and national levels and always lend a helping hand when needed.

When asked about the impact of SAF volunteers, CEO Terry Baker mentioned one of his favorite quotes, an African proverb that states: “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”

"Over SAF’s 121-year history, volunteers have come together to not only promote the importance of the role of forestry and natural resources, but to also support or ‘show up’ for their communities," noted Baker.

“As a student member, I remember participating in SAF road clean ups. I know there are countless other projects that our chapters take on to support their communities and represent SAF,” Baker said. “In addition to leading their state societies, divisions, and local chapters, I am continuously impressed and grateful for the time our volunteers invest in our national programs.”

SAF’s impact would not be where it is today, over a century later, without its volunteers and their passion across the US.

“Our members’ commitment is the reason SAF has the scale of impact in the management of our nation’s forests and natural areas,” Baker said.

We appreciate all our volunteers’ efforts and celebrate your commitment to SAF and the profession!
